Recommended Books for early elementary

Piano

         New books being released in 2020.  Currently available for 3 - 5 years (Preschool), 5 - 9 years (Primer and Levels 1A and 1B),  10+ years - teens (Rock Repertoire, Intermediate Pop Studies).

        Ideal for children aged 7+, a series of method books that combine practical music and theory.

  • Accelerated Piano Adventures - Faber

        Designed for the older beginner, the lesson books are accompanied by theory books and performance books.

  • Wunderkeys Pop Staff Piano for Older Beginners

  • A Dozen a Day - Edna-Mae Burnham

        Suitable for beginners of all ages. Explores techniques.

        Excellent books starting from pre-grade 1 onwards. Suitable for all ages.

          Great introduction to classical music. Well suited to older children and adults.

  • AB Guide to Music Theory (pink book) - Eric Taylor

          More suited to the older child and adult, this book contains general information about Music Theory up to Grade 5

  • Pass Grade 5 Theory (2018 edition) - Dorothy Dingle

         Designed as more of a crash course in Music Theory, it takes the learner from start to grade 5, however best understood by those from grade 3.  An excellent choice for teenagers to adults.  This
