Music Lessons
Piano, Violin, Viola & Theory for children & teenagers
Children of any age love to play games and activities - it's a brilliant way to learn. My music lessons are tailored to each child and include heaps of fun games and activities to support learning, whatever their age.

Lessons take place at my home in Lichfield on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays until 5.30pm.
I also offer online lessons.
With over 14 years experience of teaching children and teenagers, I have hand-picked the best method books to suit each age range.

New starters to the piano will be assessed as to the best method book that would suit them. I occasionally use Piano Time, however for most, the Wunderkeys Primer curriculum is a great option. With games, duets and activities, learning the piano really can be a lot of fun! more Wunderkeys info

To maintain continuity, I will use the current method books that your child has been following. Once the end of the book has been reached, we will discuss what the best route to take would be; whether it be to continue with the current series or move to an alternative method book.

Important

-
I have a clean, fully-enhanced DBS check.

-
For childen aged 7 upwards, after initial introductions I teach in a one-to-one setting. For children up to 6 years old, I require a parent/guardian to be quietly present during the lesson.

-
I work alongside your child to achieve their goals, at their pace. I actively encourage sitting exams when the time is right. There are plenty of excellent exam boards offering a variety of options: MTB for online exams, ABRSM for practical and performance exams. Exams may not suit all children, but developing their own skills, setting achievable targets and gaining their musical independence is immeasurable.

-
It is essential that you actively encourage your child to practice regularly as this will not only benefit their progress and enjoyment of the instrument, but the discipline of doing so should filter through into all aspects of their lives. See here for my guide to practising.

For string players, joining a school or local orchestra is hugely beneficial.
