Violin lessons in Lichfield

MEET SARAH

I am a full-time, professional musician with a passion for teaching and ensemble performance.

Learning and playing music should be enjoyed at any age and I take real delight in seeing students' goals and ambitions achieved.

Music Education

Having grown up learning the violin, I started the viola aged 14 years and found pure joy with the new rich tones.  I also took up the piano in early childhood.  I won music scholarships and awards as well as performance and singing competitions. I spent 2 years in The National Youth Orchestra, conducted by huge musical names such as Sir Colin Davis, Yan Pascal Tortelier and Mstislav Rostropovich before studying the viola at The Royal Northern College of Music.

Teaching

I have over 19 years' worth of private teaching experience.  I have a 92% ABRSM merit and distinction rate - achieved by both adult and child students.  A number of pupils have won music competitions at school.  Students' ages range from 3 - 89.  I have taught members of well-known bands, CEOs of successful companies, NHS staff and my youngest student's grandmother.

I have a clean, fully-enhanced DBS check and I have been awarded a Child Certificate in Education Level 2.

Performing

I enjoy performing with some of the Midlands' finest string players in my quartet, Fortune Strings, which based in Lichfield, Staffordshire.  I am regularly booked for performances, including for royalty, weddings, corporate openings and charitable events.  I regularly perform with various professional orchestras in the Midlands, including The Limelight Orchestra, Sinfonia Stellaris and Central England Camerata.

I have strong recording studio and tv experience having played live on BBC Radio 1, performed alongside Sway and have been a supporting act for Passenger.
